Story Circles are a legacy tool used by the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee (SNCC) – the student arm of the Civil Rights Movement. They can help us process emotions, heal trauma, reduce anxiety, and deepen the fee ling of belonging. Hosts from across the twin cities have trained and are encouraged to support this community based Share Your Story initiative by hosting story circles in their own neighborhoods! Register here.
Story Circles may cover a variety of topics. Below are some suggested prompts:
Metro Surge Prompt: Tell us a story about something you have felt, done, or seen since the onset of Metro Surge in December that you are still processing.
Climate Prompt: Tell us a story from your own experience about a time that had the greatest impact on your current relationship with climate crisis?
Disability Prompt: Tell us about a time where you had to advocate for yourself on behalf of your disability. How did it turn out?
Story Circle “Train the Facilitator” events provide conveners with the tools they will need to facilitate story circles on their own. Participants will be asked to sign up to host a story circle in their own neighborhood or organization. Community care is essential during this time. Story circle training will give you tools to ensure that folks (including yourself) are cared for before, during, and after a story circle experience. | Register for Upcoming Training Days
