2023/24 Season

Our 47th season features three incredible productions that disrupt traditional thinking and inspire civic discourse.

“In this, my second season at Mixed Blood, we are enacting our mission to “disrupt injustice” by looking at our systems…cultural, spiritual, political, and economic. After completing the 12×12 series, I better understand some of the conversations happening in the Twin Cities and Minnesota and our season reflects that. I couldn’t be more excited to share this work with you,” Mixed Blood Artistic Director, Mark Valdez.

Mariology, written & directed by Nancy Keystone and created in collaboration with Critical Mass Performance Group. Mariology deconstructs deep-seated learning to inspire imagination about the Virgin Mary’s roles in systems of gender, power, and faith, to open possibilities for liberation.

The Most Spectacularly Lamentable Trial of Miz Martha Washington written by Pulitzer Prize Winner, James Ijames. This biting satire examines history’s impact on present-day systems. Ravaged by illness and cared for by the very slaves that will be free the moment she dies, Martha Washington’s fever dreams are haunted by family, legacy, and broken promises.

Full Range: The Iron Range Project by Alison Carey and directed by Artistic Director, Mark Valdez. This new play is based on interviews with people from across the Iron Range, celebrating the region’s rich history while exploring the many dreams for its vibrant and important future. Full Range will be performed in the Iron Range with Rangers on stage and backstage.
